resurrection by aesop + buvette

My winter hands are dry + chapped
no longer.
My new fave thing is this
good smelling hand balm by Aesop.

I first discovered the
hand soap + balm in the loo
at the coziest, most delicious

Two treats to get me through this winter...
sublime hand cream and a friendly, delicious + small NYC eatery.

now i love making + eating my salad

I love salad.
Until recently
I did not like making
or eating it.
My friend Pam
taught me her way to make salad.
Now I'm hooked and
actually enjoy the process and the result
therefore eating more greens.
I guess I was sick of my variation of salad.
I would make same old vinaigrette....
blah blah blah.

Here's what I do now thanks to Pam.

Grill something....last night it was zucchini
 + grilled chicken breast
toast some pine nuts in a couple tablespoons of EVO.
(I use just this EVO to dress the salad + it's a bit warm which is good...my new trick)
thinly slice raw fennel
 slice red onion

throw it all in bowl with arugula
+
grated parmesan cheese
squeeze half a lemon on salad.
Add maldon salt and freshly ground pepper.
Toss + toss.
That's it.
YUM.
Pam's tricks?
Toasted nuts, any kind.
Grated parm.
Just lemon to dress.
Why didn't I think of that?
She promised to teach me some other variations....yay!

new ritual to start my days

My friend Eden
turned me on to this
new daily ritual.
I'm hooked.
Here's what I do:

Set my alarm to:

Put my feet on the floor at 5:30 am.
Go to the bathroom.
Scrape my tongue with
(click on link to get yourself + all your friends one asap)

See the benefits of tongue scraping

Then I brush my teeth,
go to the kitchen,
put the kettle on and make myself a
cup of hot water with lemon.
While the water is boiling
 I bundle up...jacket, hat, scarf + boots.
I then set my timer on my iphone for:

I go outside and sit on my stoop
for 5 minutes.
I take in the darkness, stars, bare trees and the moon or
like today
 the dusting of snow.
It's quiet and I breathe deep while
I sip my hot water with lemon.
5 whole minutes to myself at the start of the day.
Silence, the outside and just me.
The timer goes off.
I go back inside.
The house is quiet.
All is calm.
Not only do I start my day bright and early,
I have found that I have plenty of time
to prepare lunches and breakfast.
No rushing.
My mood?
Calm.
Cool.
Collected.
Ready to start the day!

back to it

I'm back.
We moved.
The holidays came and went.
It's been a long haul but here I am.
Gotta get back to my blog.
Keeps me inspired.
In the meantime I will focus on above!
