eeboo build a robot puzzle and spinner game

We played Eeboo's Build a Robot Puzzle and Spinner game with our 4 year old this eve and it was so much fun!  He loved it.  The illustrations are colorful and full of robotic whimsy.  Plus this game won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award for Best Toy...I know why!  A perfect beginner game.  Find it here.

Can I please have just a moment to rest on that cozy place with a pile of magazines and glass of iced Nigella's lemonade?  Ok, so I really need a whole day.  Pretty please!  I love that round table.

nigella's lemonade

Forever Summer (Style Network's)
We had a goodbye supper with our English friends, The Chads this eve.  Cathrin made the yummiest fish and chips.  Jack her 7 year old and I made the most delicious lemonade from one of Nigella's cookbooks.  The interesting thing about this lemonade is that you blend up two whole lemons, skins, pips and all!  You then put it through a strainer.  It was so lemony and thirst quenching.  I know this will be my go-to lemonade recipe from now on and I will forever remember our English friends, The Chads!  Here is the recipe & enjoy:

ingredients

2 unwaxed lemons
1 bottle of fizzy water
4 tablespoons sugar

recipe

cut lemons into eight pieces each so 16 pieces total
put 8 pieces of lemon in blender with 1/2 bottle of fizzy water
add 1/2 sugar (2 of the 4 tablespoons)
blend until all chopped up
pour through sieve into a pitcher
repeat with other 1/2 of ingredients
pour over ice and serve: YUM!

grilled flank steak

Kate from The Parsley Thief, my favorite food blog, posted this recipe for flank steak.  I made it Sunday eve and it was absolutely delicious and so easy!

Grilled Flank Steak

From Gourmet Magazine, June 1998
Serves 8

1 flank steak {any size will do}
4 large shallots, finely chopped
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce

Cut the steak into 4 equal pieces. This helps the steak cook more quickly & creates more surface area for the marinate to make contact with the steak...yum! Season with a generous sprinkling of kosher salt & freshly ground pepper & place them in a large resealable plastic bag. Combine the shallots, vinegar, sugar & soy sauce in a mixing bowl. Pour the marinade into the bag & toss everything around a bit, to coat the steaks evenly.
Transfer to the refrigerator & marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 2 days.
Preheat the grill & lightly oil the grates. Remove the steak from the bag & discard the marinade. Grill for 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare {depending on the thickness}. Transfer to a cutting board & let them rest for 10 minutes. Slice on a 45 degree angle, across the grain, into thin slices & serve.

meet the sloths

Meet the sloths from Amphibian Avenger on Vimeo.

I have not been able to post much this week due to busyness.  I promise this will make up for lost posts and it will make you smile.  Sloths are very good looking critters.
