I can hardly wait for home grown tomatoes to ripen. Summer BLTs are my absolute favorite.
I like a crusty country bread toasted with hellman's mayo, crispy green or red leaf lettuce, warm thick bacon right from the pan and a just picked plump red tomato that's still warm from the sun. YUM.

monster mama

Monster Mama by Liz Rosenberg is my all time favorite book for children. I have read it aloud to children probably over 1000 times...I know it by heart. Children sit there with mouths open while hanging on every word and illustration. The illustrations are brilliant....lots splatter and spray paint. My favorite line is "No matter where you go or what you do I will be there because I am your mother even though I'm a monster and I love you." It's out of print but can be purchased used here.

I saw this great romper at Anthropologie last weekend. Perfect for my growing belly and SO comfy (pants but looks like a balloony skirt) for summer. I got the one on the top....it's a great pattern in person. The other is cute too & available on the anthro site here.

white elephant sale

Yesterday I went to the White Elephant, a giant tag sale in a field in New Milford, CT. Tracy picked me up at 6 am. We were browsing the many booths by 7 am. I was looking for a table. I found this treasure instead....it was hidden in a basket at the back of a booth. A while back I had posted about Hugo Guinness, an artist who creates wonderfully simple wood cut prints. I adore his art but it's a bit on the pricey side. I instantly thought of his art when I found this. The best part is the subject...a mama holding her new baby. I had to have it oh and the frame is black distressed bamboo.

tracy's birthday cake

I made this birthday cake for my beloved friend Tracy. The recipe is from The Magnolia Bakery Cookbook. It's the traditional birthday vanilla cake with butter cream frosting with lemon curd and fresh raspberry filling....and a butterfly oh and pansies.
