resurrection by aesop + buvette

My winter hands are dry + chapped
no longer.
My new fave thing is this
good smelling hand balm by Aesop.

I first discovered the
hand soap + balm in the loo
at the coziest, most delicious

Two treats to get me through this winter...
sublime hand cream and a friendly, delicious + small NYC eatery.

granola goodness

I had the best granola with greek yogurt and fresh berries
at The Nomad Hotel's restaurant in NYC earlier this month.
The waiter was kind enough to share the source...
It's the Eleven Madison Park's granola recipe...
The nomad's sister restaurant.
I tweaked it a bit.  The original recipe called for one tablespoon of salt.
Jill made me a batch for Christmas using that recipe
& it was a smidge salty..though great with lots of yogurt
{we do love sweet and salty}.
I switched out pumpkin seeds for pecans and cherries for cranberries.
Make a batch...your house will smell so cozy!

Granola recipe adapted from
Eleven Madison Park Granola

2 3⁄4 cups rolled oats
1 cup shelled pistachios
1 cup halved pecans
1 cup unsweetened coconut chips
1/2  tablespoon salt
1⁄2 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 cup dried cranberries.

1. Preheat oven to 300. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, pistachios, coconut, pecans and salt.

2. In a small saucepan set over low heat, warm the sugar, syrup and olive oil until the sugar has just dissolved, then remove from heat. Fold liquids into the mixture of oats, making sure to coat the dry ingredients well.

3. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, and spread granola over it. Bake until dry and lightly golden, 35 to 40 minutes, stirring granola a few times along the way.

4. Remove granola from oven, and mix into it the dried cranberries. Allow to cool to room temperature before transferring to a storage container. Makes about 6 cups.

Store in an air tight jar.
Thanks for the jar and scooper, Jill!

prune

I spent last weekend in NYC with
my good old friend, Joelle.
(check out her blog)
We had such an amazing time together as always.
I was so happy when we stumbled upon
in the East Village.
Blood, Bones & Butter was written by
Gabrielle Hamilton, the owner.
 So small, so perfect.
The hostess + bartender could not have been nicer .
We cozied up to the bar and had
the most delicious appetizers:
crabbiest crabcake...the best I've ever had.

 Shrimp, head + all...YUM.
Celery salad with a piece of toast with the
creamiest slice of blue cheese.

Oh the wine...I had the Rosé...crisp + dry just the way I love it.

The book is a must read.
Get to PRUNE if you can!

Moomah is an art studio in Tribeca after my own heart.
A place to do art + coffee shop with eats for parents and children
is sadly closing it's doors April 1st.
A must see before it's long gone.
Check out moomah.com to see what their next move is.

(always love moomah's graphics)

scenes from the crosby

I was thrilled to pieces when I spent 2 nights
in December at
in the heart of SOHO, NYC.
I fell in love love love
with the look
of the entire place.
A miche mache of color
+
old
+
new.
Here are a few snaps:
giant sculpture of head
made of metal letters
in foyer

 gorgeous outside space

 Seating area with fireplaces
Perfect spot for tea and/or cocktails
 The most inviting old sofa
covered in oatmeal linen
with the most gorgeous rustic looking pillows
in front foyer

 Entrance to their fantastic restaurant.
Those two chairs were to die for.
If only I could have stuffed them
in my overnight bag.
