oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
No school for Everett yesterday so we had a pajama day. Perfect day to be home with all the clouds and wind. Also the ideal day to make cookies together. I found this recipe on my favorite food and more blog called the parsley thief. Kate makes the most delicious looking food...her photos are top notch and I love the way she gives you step by step instructions.
Thanks for the inspiration Kate...the cookies are YUMMY!
Here is the recipe:
Makes 7 dozen 2 inch cookies
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons (packed) dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk the flour, oats, baking soda, baking powder & salt in a bowl.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter with both sugars until light & fluffy.
Add the eggs & vanilla & beat to combine.
Add the dry ingredients & beat until just incorporated.
Remove the mixer bowl from the stand, and fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop the dough out by the tablespoonful & place 2 inches apart on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through the cooking time.
Let the cookies cool on a wire rack.

I can't get over the loss of my favorite magazines...Domino, Cookie & Gourmet. Thank Goodness for this....Lonny is a brand new online magazine founded by Domino alumni Michelle Adams and photographer Patrick Cline. It's set up like a mag in that you can turn the pages and it's filled with all the goodness of Domino. Check it out here!

crying shame
I am so sad about Gourmet folding. I truly thought that it was just getting better and better.
AND Cookie magazine is over too....a crying shame. First Domino, now this double whammy. Such a wonderfully simple pleasure it was to find these mags in my mailbox monthly. Made my day! PLEASE! I hope all those very talented editors find a way to come together and make even more fabulous magazines....I'm gonna hope for "the everything happens for a reason".

RV
This week friends are renting an RV and taking off to where the wind blows them. Oh how I wish I could do the same. We are moving the rest of the studio today.
My goal is to have the home studio organized by the end of the month. ahhhhhh!

Thank you so much to Chumley and Michele for making it fun and actually painless. Oh and thank you to Tracy for her pick up...I always wanted a pick up. I will be back to normal after the 24th.

happens every day
I just finished this book by Isabel Gillies. A true story. I couldn't put it down. A great quick summer read.
Check it out here.
I just emailed Isabel Gillies to tell her how much I loved her book and in 5 minutes she emailed this back, wow! (now I have to email back to say the studio is closing :( :
Hello Susanna!
Thanks so much for this great note AND for posting the book on your blog, (which looks very cool, I love BLT's too)! I am very impressed that you can do anything with a three year old much less read a book and have a store. We have pals in Darien, next time we are in town we'll come check it out.
Thanks very much again! Best wishes, Isabel Gillies

bacon lettuce tomato
I can hardly wait for home grown tomatoes to ripen. Summer BLTs are my absolute favorite.
I like a crusty country bread toasted with hellman's mayo, crispy green or red leaf lettuce, warm thick bacon right from the pan and a just picked plump red tomato that's still warm from the sun. YUM.
